Dental Bridges Procedure

Bridges:

Dental BridgesA bridge is a dental restoration that replaces on or more missing teeth. The bridge is held in place by the neighboring healthy teeth on each side or by dental implants. Bridges help to maintain the space where the previous tooth or teeth where lost and prevent the healthy teeth from drifting out of their position. Bridges are cared for the same way as your natural teeth with proper brushing and flossing techniques as well as with regular dental visits and professional cleanings.

Types of Bridges:

There are different types of dental bridges. Depending on the location of the missing tooth/teeth and the condition of your teeth, mouth and gums, we will discuss options appropriate for your specific situation.

Traditional bridges are used if there are natural teeth on each side of the gap where the tooth is missing. As an alternative to a bridge, a single dental implant may be used to replace a missing tooth between 2 healthy teeth. An implant will prevent you from having to get your healthy teeth prepared for the bridge.

Implant bridges are used if you don’t have healthy teeth or enough teeth to support a bridge, or when several or all teeth are missing. A custom-made bridge is anchored to the dental implants.
